Takedown & removal requests
Recomp is a directory. We remove listings quickly when asked, and we never host the projects themselves.
What we can remove
Our own page about a project: its listing, summary, picture and links. We do not host any project's code, builds or files, so removing our listing does not remove the project itself. For the files, contact the site that hosts them, for example through GitHub's DMCA takedown policy.
Project maintainers
If you maintain a listed project, you can have its entry removed or changed at any time, for any reason. No notice is needed. Say in the request that you work on it.
Rights holders: what to include
A copyright notice should include:
- the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- the Recomp page or pages concerned (for example
https://recompsoftware.com/p/…/), and what on them infringes; - your name, organisation if any, and how we can contact you;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).
What happens next
- We act on complete requests promptly, usually within a few days, and normally by removing the listing while we look into it.
- Where we can, we tell the project. Its maintainers can send a counter-notice through the same form if they believe the removal was a mistake.
- We do not relist projects that are removed repeatedly for infringement.
